THE ROLE

The Senior Product Component Owner bonds the client perspective and product vision with the mechanics of delivery.  SPCOs own and are accountable for client satisfaction in production as evidenced by increasing usage of their components across all products and delivery mechanisms.  SPCOs drive optimal efficiency via the provision of immediate feedback and motivate their teams by contextualizing the work.  They carefully balance near-term imperatives with longer term sustainability goals as they work towards achieving Epic client experiences.  Additionally, SPCOs will help support other PCOs and help drive & raise standards within the PCO team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the prioritisation of their team’s backlog to ensure product goals and technical roadmap is achieved
  • Works with team to ensure features are broken down in valuable requirements so that working software can be delivered each iteration
  • Utilise usage and other metrics as basis for prioritisation and to measure the success of solutions delivered
  • Connected to clients to ensure their component delivers business value representing their component in face to face meetings with clients alongside other divisional representatives
  • Motivates their team and ensures they understand the business value and reasons for the requirements they are undertaking
  • Ensures that the Leadership Team is well informed of their Component’s status and progress against goals, especially as requirements and solutions evolve
  • Collaborates outside of the team with other PCOs and stakeholders from other pillars where requirements involve
  • Suggests product improvement ideas, carefully weighing up alternative solutions, drives innovation
  • Facilitates workshops to break down requirements and design solutions
  • Constantly strives to keep solutions simple and elegant, ensuring that functionality is built for the benefit of the Dealogic product instead of individual clients
  • Participates in the capture and definition of acceptance criteria, with emphasis on non-functional requirements and technical excellence
  • Ensures adequate documentation and models are collated that are necessary for future maintainability of the product
  • Interacts with Marketing to ensure that their component is represented in the best light and emphasizes competitive strengths
  • Works with new product introduction to assess feedback on potential tweaks and evolution
  • Assesses and analyses competitors offerings of similar components
  • Ensures that solutions built by the team can function in production without the day to day participation of development teams
  • Supports the testers in creation and review of test cases along with their prioritisation
  • Mentors other PCOs to better understand the product and how it is used by Clients
  • Helps raise the standards within the PCO team by promoting best practice business analysis and Agile techniques

 

Requirements:

  • Fluent English skills
  • BSc/Msc degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Strong experience in analysis / design of software products
  • Strong experience of working within a formally structured product delivery lifecycle
  • Worked in a client (internal or external) facing position
  • Comfortable working in a team environment
  • Understanding of financial markets
  • Presented in front of groups
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, time management, presentation skills
  • Team player
  • Excellent planning and project management skills
  • Strong business acumen and good appreciation of building ROI and business case
